Navi Mumbai News: Turbhe Railway Station subway in poor condition

Navi Mumbai: The subway at Turbhe Railway Station, located on the Trans-Harbour line, is in a dilapidated state, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The underpass connects the industrial area to the east with the residential areas on the west, running under the railway tracks.

It serves commuters from Turbhe Store, Indiranagar, Turbhe Naka, Hanuman Nagar, and Ganpati Pada, who use it to travel to Turbhe Colony, APMC, and Vashi.

CIDCO is responsible for maintaining and cleaning the walkway, but it has been neglected. Many of the steps are broken, leading to the risk of slips and injuries for commuters. The walkway, open 24/7, has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour at night, with individuals urinating, leaving alcohol bottles, and engaging in other disruptive activities.

Additionally, a leaking sewage channel in the middle of the walkway has caused water mixed with waste to accumulate, forcing passengers to endure foul odour. The path is also poorly lit due to malfunctioning tube lights, further compromising safety.

The blocked drainage system worsens the situation, and the two nearby toilets are not properly maintained, adding to the unsanitary conditions. Women, in particular, have reported feeling unsafe in the area.

There are growing calls for CIDCO and civic officials to address these issues promptly, improve cleanliness, and ensure the safety and comfort of commuters.
