Navi Mumbai: NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, has directed the fast-tracked completion of the tertiary treatment plant under the Amrit 2.0 scheme at sector 12, CBD Belapur. The plant will recycle wastewater for non-potable uses, including watering gardens, tree belts, and road dividers in the Belapur division.

Recycled water will also be available for vehicles, gardens, beautification projects, and construction in public housing societies, as per demand. A 23-kilometre pipeline is being laid in Belapur, with 21 km already completed.

During an inspection, the Commissioner instructed that the construction be completed by May 31, followed by a trial run. The project is scheduled for completion by July 31.

Additionally, Dr Shinde directed the demarcation of the entire project site and the construction of a protective wall around it. He also suggested planting trees along the roads at the site.

This project, part of the Amrit 2.0 scheme, aims to contribute to water conservation by using recycled water for non-drinking purposes, aligning with NMMC’s eco-friendly initiatives.
