Navi Mumbai: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded that 80% of jobs in Navi Mumbai be reserved for local Marathi youth. The protest, which took place at the Skill Development Employment and Industrial Development Department office in Belapur, saw MNS leaders gave an image of Kumbhakarna to the administration, the protestors criticized the authorities for sleeping on this issue for years.

The MNS delegation, led by city president Gajanan Kale, presented a statement to Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pawar at Kokan Bhavan. The delegation expressed their dissatisfaction with the department's failure to implement the state government's decision, which mandates that 80% of jobs in all industries in Maharashtra be allocated to locals. This policy, aimed at reducing unemployment among Marathi youth, has not been effectively enforced, leading to widespread joblessness among the state's youth.

Kale criticized the Skill Development Employment and Entrepreneurship Department for its indifference towards providing adequate job opportunities to local Marathi youth. Despite their qualifications, many Marathi youths in Navi Mumbai remain unemployed due to what Kale described as the department's "Kumbhakarni state."

The MNS highlighted the government decision from November 17, 2008, which stipulates that at least 50% of supervisory category jobs and 80% of other jobs in all industrial establishments should be reserved for local candidates. The MNS claims that the skill development and entrepreneurship department has neglected these rules, resulting in dissatisfaction among Marathi youth in Navi Mumbai.

The MNS made the following demands to the Deputy Commissioner:

1. Strict enforcement of government laws and regulations regarding employment opportunities for Marathi youth.

2. Immediate online publication of updated information about job opportunities and actual employment provided to Marathi youth in every company in Navi Mumbai.

3. Mandatory posting of employment-related information prominently outside each company's main facade.

4. Job interviews conducted by officers proficient in Marathi and in the Marathi language.

5. Compliance by every company in Navi Mumbai with government decisions on employment for local Marathi youth.

6. Public publication of actions taken against companies not registered with the Skill Development Employment Department.

The MNS warned that if their demands are not met within ten days, they will launch a strong agitation against the department in their signature style.
