In a stern message to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) authorities, MLA Ganesh Naik has warned that the administration's inefficiency in addressing public concerns will result in a halt to municipal operations. At the 75th meeting at Municipal Headquarters, crucial decisions were made to address the pending issues affecting Navi Mumbai residents.
Water Supply Concerns: MLA Naik highlighted the inadequate water supply from Barvi Dam, stressing that Navi Mumbai deserves its rightful share. He announced that saved water from the municipality's Morbe Dam would be returned to Navi Mumbai, improving the water supply. MLA Naik cautioned against the creation of artificial water scarcity by corrupt officials.
Infrastructure and Employment: He urged accelerated progress on the Vaitrana and Bhira Pani Yojana projects for future water supply. He demanded immediate permanent jobs for those affected by the Morbe Dam, CIDCO, and MIDC projects. The MLA also expressed concern over corruption in teacher recruitment and called for an inquiry to prevent financial exploitation.
Legal Department Restructuring: MLA Naik demanded a restructuring of the municipal corporation's legal department, emphasizing the need for efficient officers to replace ineffective ones. He accused current officials of working in favour of builders and contractors, neglecting municipal interests.
Wonders Park and Digha Lake Beautification: MLA Naik opposed the increase in entry rates at Wonders Park and warned against delays in the beautification of Digha Lake, emphasizing the importance of public convenience.
Healthcare Facilities: The MLA criticized the lack of specialist doctors and proper testing facilities in municipal hospitals, urging 24-hour access to quality healthcare for residents.
Officer Retention: He advocated for retaining officers who genuinely care about Navi Mumbai's improvement while sending back those without a commitment to the city.
Airoli-Katai Flyover: Expressing dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the Airoli-Katai flyover, MLA Naik warned of a potential work stoppage if there's no significant advancement within the next three months.
Railway Project Funding Protest: MLA Naik vehemently opposed allocating Rs 1400 crore for the Mumbai Karjat and Panvel railway project, urging authorities not to burden Navi Mumbai residents. He threatened to organize protests if attempts were made to divert funds during the COVID crisis without adequate support.
