Kalyan: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has initiated strict action against property owners who have failed to pay their property taxes for the financial year 2025–2026. Property tax is the primary source of revenue for the civic body, and officials have been actively following up with defaulters through direct communication and public appeals across various media platforms.
Despite repeated reminders and awareness campaigns encouraging citizens to clear their dues, several property owners have reportedly continued to avoid paying their taxes. In response, the municipal corporation has adopted a strict recovery approach to ensure the collection of outstanding amounts.
Balasaheb Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of the KDMC Tax Department, stated, “We request all defaulters to cooperate with the municipal corporation by paying their pending property taxes promptly in order to avoid further action and ensure their property and water connections remain unaffected.”
As part of this drive, KDMC has begun taking firm action against defaulting property owners. Measures such as the disconnection of water supply and the sealing of properties have already been implemented. According to officials, around 223 water connections have been disconnected so far, while 538 properties belonging to defaulters have been sealed as part of the recovery process.
In addition, the municipal corporation has warned that properties of persistent defaulters may be seized. The pending dues will then be recovered through an auction process, and the names of defaulters will also be publicly displayed within their respective ward areas.
To facilitate citizens in clearing their pending taxes, KDMC has extended the working hours of its civic amenity centers. All such centers will remain open on weekends and public holidays until March 31, 2026, to help residents conveniently pay their property tax dues.
