Mira Road: The Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate has imposed a complete ban on flying drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within its jurisdiction, effective immediately and continuing until June 3, 2025.

According to the police, there is credible information suggesting that such aerial devices could potentially be misused by anti-social elements, thereby posing a threat to national security installations and public order.

"In view of the possibility that drones or similar unmanned aerial systems may be used for disruptive or unlawful purposes, it has become imperative to take preventive measures. Therefore, we have issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita(BNSS) , 2023," said Suhas Bawache, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar.

He added, “The objective of the order is to maintain public peace and safeguard sensitive locations from any possible aerial threats. The ban is a precautionary step, implemented in the interest of public safety.”

Any individual found violating this directive will face legal consequences under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS) , along with other applicable laws.

“This is a unilateral order issued in light of urgent circumstances. We urge the public to cooperate and refrain from operating drones during the effective period,” DCP Bawache further stated.

The ban covers all individuals, institutions, and entities, barring exceptions explicitly permitted by competent authorities.
