Ambernath: Legislator Dr. Balaji Kinikar has demanded strict action against industries violating environmental regulations and causing air and water pollution in Ambernath. He urged the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to take immediate steps to stop the discharge of chemical effluents into the Waldhuni River and control industrial air pollution.

During a meeting with MPCB Regional Officer Satish Padwal and official Mr. Patil, Kinikar highlighted the growing pollution crisis in the river, particularly near the historic Shiva Temple area. He raised concerns over jeans-washing units allegedly releasing chemical effluents and untreated toxic wastewater into the river, threatening its ecosystem and worsening environmental conditions.

Kinikar also submitted a formal letter to the MPCB demanding immediate intervention and strict action against industries responsible for polluting the river. He stressed that residents have the right to clean air and safe water, and that protecting the Waldhuni River must remain a priority.

To address the issue, officials announced that a joint meeting would be held next week under MPCB Chairperson Siddhesh Kadam. The meeting will include the Board’s Chief Executive Officer, MIDC officials, the Ambernath Municipal Council Chief Officer, and other concerned authorities.

Kinikar asserted that citizens’ health and environmental protection cannot be compromised, pledging to pursue the matter until a lasting solution is achieved.
