Kalyan News: Kalyan Dombivli civic corporation holds pre-monsoon emergency meeting to ensure zero loss of life and property during monsoon

Kalyan: With a view to ensure minimum damage to life and property, Kalyan Dombivli municipal corporation held an emergency meeting on May 5.

Municipal commissioner Abhinav Goel informed that a pre-monsoon emergency meeting was organized with the objective of reviewing the preparations to ensure zero loss of life and minimal property damage during the monsoon emergencies.

The meeting was attended by additional municipal commissioner Yogesh Godse, city engineer Anita Pardeshi, municipal officers and officials from MMRDA, MSCB, Police, MSRDC, and other government agencies.

Commissioner Goyal stated that the primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the preparations for the upcoming monsoon and to clearly assign responsibilities to each officer to avoid any disruptions. He instructed that control rooms will be set up in the municipal headquarters and in all wards that will operate 24x7 during the monsoon emergencies. He further directed that before the monsoon, reports on manpower and machinery used for drain cleaning should be submitted daily by the responsible officers. Additionally, all officers, especially from the fire department, must remain ready to handle any emergencies. The health department should stay alert about diseases that commonly spread during the monsoon, and ward officers must take swift action against dangerous hoardings.

Chief Fire Officer Namdev Chaudhary informed that the city's six fire stations will be equipped with boats, lifebuoys, life jackets, rescuers, and other necessary equipment. Dr Deepa Shukla, medical health officer, mentioned that 10-bed emergency wards will be set up in the two main municipal hospitals during the monsoon, and medical teams from the health department will remain prepared for any emergency. Additional commissioner Yogesh Godse instructed police officers to assist the municipal corporation in evacuating residents from highly dangerous buildings to prevent accidents during the rainy season.
