Nerul: An injured flamingo was rescued by the forest department. The bird’s plight came to light when Abhijit Chatterjee, a resident of Navi Mumbai and an amateur photographer, clicked its picture. Chatterjee had observed the bird for three days before contacting the forest department. The flamingo had lost one of its feet and was left stranded in knee-deep water. The bird was taken to a veterinary doctor and, after preliminary treatment, was released in the NRI wetland. The bird is expected to its life without one feet.
