Railway officials assure upgrade soon
Malfunctioning digital indicators at Kharghar railway station have been causing inconvenience to daily commuters, leading to frustration and calls for urgent action.
A recent image shared by a commuter highlighted a faulty electronic display showing incomplete train information, such as “09:43 P” instead of “PL” for Panvel, omitting crucial details like the complete time format and destination. The issue was brought to the attention of railway authorities through social media, with complaints directed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Central Railway officials.
Responding to commuter concerns, Central Railway authorities said, “We have started working on the issue and the new digital indicators are being installed in phase manner”.
The official further confirmed that upgrades have already been completed at Belapur, Vashi, Nerul, and Juinagar stations, with Kharghar next in line. Three new indicators have already been installed at the station’s subway and booking office, with the remaining work on platforms expected to be completed soon.
The faulty indicators have caused confusion among passengers, particularly during peak hours. “It’s frustrating to see such basic information missing, especially during rush hour,” said Madhuri Sharma, a daily commuter. Another passenger, Anil Desai, urged authorities to expedite the installation, emphasising the importance of timely and accurate train updates.
