Concerns mount as heavy vehicles return despite ban on Dastan-Dighode route

Residents of Uran taluka are expressing growing concerns as heavy vehicles, previously prohibited by local authorities on the Dastan-Dighode route, have once again resumed movement. The resumption of heavy vehicles has raised questions among the public about the effectiveness of the measures taken by the concerned administration.

The surge in industrialization in Uran taluka has led to a sharp rise in the number of heavy vehicles traversing the roads. With the establishment of Container Freight Stations (CFS) and warehouses for empty containers in areas like Veshvi, Chirle, Dighode, Vindhane, Chirner, Mothi Jui, and Kalambusare, the volume of heavy vehicles has increased significantly. Consequently, the roads have become increasingly congested, struggling to accommodate the surge in traffic.

Of particular concern is the escalating traffic congestion on Dighode Circle and Dighode Chirle road, posing a significant challenge to residents and commuters alike. Students and the working class are among those affected the most, often finding themselves stranded in traffic for hours.

The frustration resulting from the traffic congestion has prompted several hunger strikes and protests, compelling government intervention. As a response, authorities have banned heavy vehicles from using the Dastan-Chirle route via Dighode, with banners erected at Dighode Naksha by the police administration. Despite these efforts, heavy vehicles persist on this route, raising doubts about the effectiveness of the ban.

Lack of action from the police administration is worrying, as the continued movement of heavy vehicles poses a risk of a recurrence of major traffic jams, endangering the lives of innocent individuals. Consequently, there is a growing demand from the public for urgent action from the police administration to address the issue and implement effective measures to control heavy vehicle movement.
