CIDCO cracks down on debris dumping in Ulwe

Ulwe: In a decisive action to curb environmental violations, CIDCO launched a targeted operation in Ulwe to stop unauthorized dumping of construction debris on its land. The crackdown resulted in the interception of two dumper trucks and the arrest of their drivers, who were caught attempting to offload hazardous waste in the Gavhan village area.
Acting on instructions from the chief vigilance officer, the raid was carried out near sector 12A, close to the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) bridge and the Khar Kopar Mass Housing site. The operation was executed by a joint team comprising CIDCO's vigilance unit, engineering department, security staff, and local police.
The apprehended drivers were identified as Syed Kayam Raza, 25, a resident of Wadala, and Bablu Dayaram Verma, 34, from Worli Koliwada. Both were found transporting construction debris deemed hazardous to public health and the environment.
A formal complaint was registered the same evening at Nhava Sheva Police Station. The duo has been booked under Sections 271 and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
CIDCO officials emphasized the corporation’s firm stance on environmental protection and warned of stringent action against any such violations in the future.
"This operation underscores our commitment to maintaining ecological balance and protecting public health in CIDCO-administered areas," said a senior official from the vigilance department.
