Mira Road: In a shocking incident, the body of a 31-year-old Nepali watchman, identified as Prakash Singh, was discovered stuffed inside a blue plastic drum at Milap Co-operative Housing Society Ltd.
“I saw the body around 10:30 am. The body was half-naked, so I dressed him in pants and rushed to Tembha Hospital,” said Ganesh Vishwakarma, the victim’s brother-in-law. Singh was staying with Vishwakarma as he had to go to his native place and offered his job to the former.
At Tembha Hospital, the doctors directed Singh’s relatives to take the body to JJ Hospital due to visible injury marks. “The doctors at Tembha Hospital stated that it appears to be a case of murder,” added Vishwakarma.
The victim’s brother, Rakesh Singh, raised concerns stating, “We should get justice. This is part of an investigation, but the police have informed us that they have CCTV footage from only one camera.”
The body has been sent to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Senior Police Inspector Amar Jagdale of Naya Nagar police station confirmed that an accidental death report has been registered. “We have registered an ADR in the case, but we are awaiting the post-mortem report to review it again,” Jagdale said.
