Mira-Bhayandar: The Cyber Police Station of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate has successfully facilitated the recovery of Rs. 7,71,732 for six complainants who fell victim to an online investment scam. The victims had been duped by a fraudulent investment app that promised high returns.

According to police officials, the six complainants had invested a total of Rs. 7,71,732 in the fake investment app between April 2024 and October 2024, after being lured by advertisements on social media. However, after making the investments, they did not receive any returns, leading them to file complaints with the Cyber Police Station.

The complaints were immediately registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP) at www.cybercrime.gov.in, and a swift investigation was launched.

Upon receiving the complaints, the Cyber Police took prompt action to freeze the suspicious bank accounts where the defrauded amount had been transferred. Complainants were also advised to file a petition with the court for the recovery of their lost funds. The Cyber Police submitted a detailed report to the court, following which a court order was obtained.

Subsequently, through continuous coordination with the banks and the court, the Cyber Police ensured that the entire defrauded amount of Rs. 7,71,732 was successfully refunded to the respective complainants' original bank accounts.

After the funds were restored, a symbolic cheque presentation was held to inform the complainants of their successful recovery. Cyber Police officials emphasized their commitment to protecting citizens from online fraud and urged the public to remain cautious while investing online.
