BJP faces exodus of North Indian members in Thane Lok Sabha constituency following MNS support

In the wake of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) decision to extend its support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a wave of resignations has swept through BJP ranks in Thane Lok Sabha constituency. The latest development saw Brijesh Tiwari, representing BJP's North Indian contingent from Mira Bhayander, along with approximately 40 to 50 BJP workers, defecting to Shiv Sena.

The dramatic resignation saw Tiwari and the accompanying BJP workers formally joining the Shiv Sena party. At the event held at Matoshree, the official residence of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, office bearers and workers partook in the traditional Shiv Bandhan ceremony and embraced the saffron flag, symbolizing their allegiance to the Shiv Sena.

The decision by MNS leader Raj Thackeray to throw his party's weight behind BJP appears to have ignited resentment among the North Indian community in Bhayander. This discontent manifested in the form of prominent BJP members abandoning the party in favour of Shiv Sena, signalling a significant political shift in the region.

Present at the ceremony were key figures from the Shiv Sena, including MP Rajan Vichare and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, alongside enthusiastic Shiv Sainiks.
