The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has unveiled its revamped bus pass scheme, set to roll out on March 1, 2024. This initiative marks a significant enhancement in the public transportation system aimed at providing more convenience and affordability to commuters across Mumbai.

The existing bus pass scheme, which has been operational since April 7, 2023, has undergone substantial improvements to better cater to the diverse needs of passengers.

With the launch of the upgraded scheme, Mumbai residents can look forward to a more convenient and cost-effective commuting experience on BEST buses starting March 1, 2024.

The revised scheme promises to offer a wider range of options and benefits to commuters, ensuring a seamless travel experience within the city.

Under the updated bus pass scheme, passengers will have access to a variety of passes tailored to their specific travel requirements.

From daily to weekly and monthly passes, commuters can choose the option that best suits their commuting frequency and budget. Additionally, the revised scheme introduces special discounts and incentives for certain passenger categories, including students and senior citizens.

Speaking about the initiative, Sunil Vaidya, the Public Relations Officer for BEST highlighted the undertaking’s commitment to enhancing public transportation services in Mumbai. He emphasized that the upgraded bus pass scheme is designed to provide commuters with greater flexibility, affordability, and convenience, ultimately encouraging more people to opt for public transport and reducing congestion on city roads.

The announcement of the revamped bus pass scheme comes as welcome news for residents and commuters in Mumbai, who rely on BEST buses as a primary mode of transportation. With improved options and incentives, the updated scheme is expected to incentivize more individuals to embrace sustainable and eco-friendly commuting alternatives.

The implementation of the revised scheme reflects BEST's ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline its services to meet the evolving needs of the city’s commuters.

Commuters are encouraged to stay updated on the details of the revised bus pass scheme, including pass options, pricing, and availability, through official channels and announcements from BEST authorities.
Additionally, in order to address the issue of coin shortages and ensure safety in daily transactions, as well as to encourage commuters to benefit from the BEST bus scheme, this decision has been taken with these objectives in mind and to enhance the growth of the BEST program. Since December 21st, 2021, 10, 40,965 closed loop cards have been issued.
