Following the heinous act of cruelty has been uncovered in Veshvi village of Uran, where an unidentified assailant targeted 22 stray dogs with acid. The gruesome attack resulted in the death of three dogs, while 19 others sustained severe burns. The local authorities, particularly the Uran police, have initiated an investigation and are actively searching for the individual responsible for this act of brutality.
Sunil Madhvi and Rashmita Madhvi, residents of Vaishvi village, have long been advocates for animal welfare, especially towards stray dogs. They run a shelter home on their terrace for dogs and routinely provide food and medical care to the stray dogs in the village. On November 21, after distributing food to the dogs, the Madhvi couple discovered that some of the dogs had burn-like injuries on their faces the next day. Upon further examination, they found similar injuries on other dogs in the area.
Disturbed by the revelation of the acid attack, the Madhvi couple filed a complaint with the Uran police. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the unidentified attacker, prompting the police to launch a comprehensive search. Authorities are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
Animal welfare advocates, including Anamika Chaudhary, emphasized the need for municipal corporations to take proactive measures, such as sterilization and vaccination, to address the stray dog population. They condemned the inhumane act of attacking dogs with acid, urging a thorough investigation into the source of the corrosive substance. Chaudhary called for severe punishment for the culprit to deter such horrific incidents in the future.
The incident has sparked concerns among citizens and animal rights activists, highlighting the urgency of addressing cruelty towards stray animals and ensuring the safety of the community's four-legged inhabitants.
