9,871 idols of Lord Ganesha immersed in NMMC area in one and a half day Visarjan ceremony

During the Ganesh Chaturthi festival that began on September 19th, the immersion of 9,871 Lord Ganesha idols took place during the one and a half day Visarjan in a devotional atmosphere amidst the well-organized arrangements of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). In NMMC, there were 22 natural immersion sites and 141 artificial immersion sites, totalling 163 immersion sites where the immersion of 9,871 Lord Ganesha idols was carried out with devotion.

The Municipal Corporation made meticulous arrangements for immersion. Volunteers were dedicatedly present at various immersion sites across different departments. At the 141 artificial immersion sites, 2,628 household idols and 2,635 idols from 7 public mandals were immersed. In total, 9,839 household idols and 32 idols from public mandals were immersed, summing up to 9,871 Lord Ganesha idols immersed.
Efforts were also made to minimize the environmental impact of the immersion. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation encouraged citizens to use artificial ponds equipped for immersion, ensuring that these water bodies remain uncontaminated. Additionally, 14 main immersion ponds were specifically chosen for immersion to avoid water pollution. The Corporation promoted the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols, and the immersion process was conducted systematically.
The NMMC Municipal Commissioner, Rajesh Narvekar, emphasized the importance of proper arrangements for the immersion process, and special instructions were issued to ensure cleanliness and efficient management. The police authorities, led by the Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, maintained law and order during the entire immersion process. They played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and security arrangements.

With the collective efforts of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the police, and the active participation of citizens, the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols was carried out peacefully and systematically. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is now gearing up for the upcoming immersion of senior Gauri Ganpati idols, which is expected to be equally well-organized and eco-friendly. The Corporation has urged citizens to continue participating actively and responsibly in the immersion process, emphasizing the use of artificial immersion ponds to protect the environment
