Empowers women in self-help groups

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, efforts to boost voter participation have received a significant boost with the implementation of the "SVEEP program" across the 148 Thane Vidhan Sabha constituencies under the purview of 25 Thane-Lok Sabha constituencies. In a bid to ensure maximum voter turnout and enhance the essence of democracy, a rigorous voter awareness campaign has been initiated, drawing notable participation from women belonging to self-help groups.

As part of this activity, recently a joint gathering of members from the Shri Swami Samarth and Hirakani Mahila Bachat Groups at Bhaskar Colony was organised. The campaign, tailored to resonate with economically disadvantaged groups, adopted the theme of 'Matdan Amulya Daan' (Voting is a Precious Gift), aiming to instill a sense of civic duty and democratic responsibility among women.

During the gathering, attendees solemnly pledged, "Mi Matdan Karnar, Aaplya Deshache Bhavitavya Ghadavinar" (I will vote, I will shape the future of my country), symbolizing their commitment to participate in the democratic process. Practical sessions and seminars were conducted to elucidate strategies for augmenting voter turnout, particularly among members of savings groups.

Emphasizing the gravity of their national duty, participants were urged to prioritize voting on polling day, setting aside any engagements to fulfill their civic obligation. Furthermore, women from self-help groups were encouraged to extend this ethos to their families and communities, rallying support for robust electoral participation on May 20, 2024.

Under the adept guidance of Assistant Election Returning Officer Urmila Patil, the initiative has witnessed seamless execution, buoyed by the dedicated efforts of the team led by Additional Assistant Election Returning Officer Asawari Sansare, alongside the steadfast leadership of sweep team head Sopan Bhaik
