Ulhasnagar: Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has secured a spot in the top 6 out of 29 civic bodies in Maharashtra's 100-day action plan. This achievement is attributed to the leadership of the city’s first female commissioner, Manisha Awhale, who has initiated significant transformations within the municipal corporation.

On April 25, members of the action plan’s central committee, including Snehal Kulkarni, Dr. Atul Kochhar, and Ananddeep Gupta, conducted a survey and review of the municipal corporation's progress.

Following UMC Commissioner Awhale's instructions, a meeting was held between municipal officers and the central committee in the standing committee hall, where development projects, ongoing plans, and the municipality's improvements were presented.

The committee was impressed with the progress, including the development of four model schools and five roads. The installation of a new Visitors Management System app will allow visitors to make digital entries with photos.

Additionally, the municipal offices, including those for accounts, property tax, and urban planning, have been given a corporate makeover.

The municipality has also added directional signs in Marathi and improved the appearance of the city’s historic temples and development visuals on its walls. The city square has been revamped to give it a modern, smart look.

UMC Additional Commissioner Kishore Gavas credited this success to the hard work of municipal officers, who have worked under the guidance of Commissioner Awhale, fulfilling their responsibilities.
