The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have begun taking breathalyser tests of motorists to tackle the issue of drunk driving as the New Year’s Eve inches closer. To enforce this initiative, the Vashi traffic department implemented nakabandi at various locations. Drivers passing through these checkpoints are subject to alcohol breathalyser tests.

Senior Police Inspector of the Vashi traffic department, Satish Kadam, emphasized that strict action will be taken against drivers found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol. “The oral examinations, conducted through breathalysers, serve as a proactive step to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians on the roads. The police are committed to maintaining road safety and deterring individuals from engaging in dangerous practices that put lives at risk”, said Kadam.

This move by the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police strengthens their commitment to creating a secure environment on the roads and serves as a stern warning to those who choose to ignore the dangers of drunk driving. Penalties will be enforced against offenders, said the official.
