Traffic changes implemented for PM Narendra Modi's campaign rally

In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign rally at Vertex Maidan in Kalyan West on Wednesday, May 15, the Navi Mumbai Transport Department has initiated traffic alterations to alleviate congestion in Thane city and the Kalyan Dombivli area. As part of these measures, the entry of heavy vehicles from Navi Mumbai to Thane city and Kalyan Dombivli area will be restricted from 1 am to 11 pm on Wednesday, May 15.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade issued a notification detailing the traffic changes. According to the notification, heavy vehicles heading towards Thane from Navi Mumbai via Mahape Shilphata will encounter entry closures during the specified period. Alternative routes have been designated for these vehicles, directing them to travel via Airoli.
Similarly, heavy vehicles bound for Kalyan from Kalyan Phata through Dahisar Mori in Taloja will also face entry restrictions at Dahisar Mori. Alternate routes have been identified for these vehicles, guiding them to their destinations via Panvel.
Additionally, heavy vehicles traveling from Navi Mumbai, Shilphata, and Khoni to Kalyan via Newali Naka will encounter entry closures at Newali Naka. Alternative routes have been established for these vehicles, redirecting them via Ambernath and Badlapur from Newali Naka.
Furthermore, to ensure smooth traffic flow amidst ongoing roadworks and increased vehicular movement from Pune, Konkan, and Goa towards Mumbai, heavy goods vehicles have been prohibited from entering and parking within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate jurisdiction. However, vehicles entering Navi Mumbai via Mulund-Airoli from Thane city have been exempted from these restrictions.
