In anticipation of the monsoon season, the Forest Department has enforced a temporary annual tourist entry ban at the renowned Pandavkada Falls.
Situated in Kharghar city, the picturesque Pandavkada waterfall has long been a magnet for hundreds of tourists annually. However, with the arrival of the monsoon, the cascading water levels surge, increasing the risk of accidents and drowning.
The decision to impose a temporary ban on tourist entry has stirred controversy, with many environmentalists expressing their discontent. While Pandavkada Falls remains a popular tourist attraction, critics argue that denying entry undermines its potential as a tourist hotspot. Despite lacking official tourist zone status, concerns have been raised about the impact of the entry ban on the local tourism sector.
Forest Department officials defend the decision, emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing visitor safety. With the primary goal of safeguarding the lives of tourists, the temporary ban serves as a preventive measure to mitigate potential risks during the monsoon season. Authorities stress the importance of adherence to regulations, urging tourists to respect the rules and guidelines in place for their safety.
Senior Forest Department official, Devidas Sonawane, revealed plans to engage with law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance and address any potential disputes arising from the entry ban.
