top-news

Thane: TMC has launched a comprehensive property survey across its jurisdiction to collect up-to-date geographical, structural, and social data. The initiative aims to support environment-friendly urban development, strategic planning, and improved delivery of civic services. TMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao has appealed to citizens to actively cooperate with the survey teams.

Rao thanked residents for their continued support in civic projects and reiterated the TMC’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ quality of life through efficient planning. The survey will help ensure transparency in property taxation and enable targeted infrastructure improvements.

Survey highlights:

  • The survey will utilise Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, including drones, to map every property within TMC limits.
  • Each property will undergo geo-sequencing (unique ID assignment) and geo-referencing (location mapping).
  • Internal measurements of all properties will be recorded.

Benefits to citizens:

  • Property tax will be calculated more accurately based on actual area.
  • A plaque with a QR code will be installed on each property, linking to e-platforms with details of civic services and ongoing schemes.
  • Tax bills will include building permits, usage data, photographs, and internal layout maps.
  • Property tax payment services will be made available online for greater convenience.

Implementation and support:

The survey is being conducted by M/s Sthapatya Consultants, Pune. Authorised representatives, wearing uniforms and ID cards, will visit each property with necessary technology. The TMC has requested residents to cooperate by providing accurate details, required documents, and allowing internal access for measurements.

Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode assured that property and citizen safety will be prioritised throughout the survey. For any queries or suggestions, citizens may write to dmctax@thanecity.gov.in.
