TMC organises Ganeshotsav competition for Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has taken an initiative to celebrate the spirit of Ganeshotsav by organizing a Ganeshotsav decoration competition for Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals under its jurisdiction. The competition aims to recognize and reward the creativity and dedication of Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals.

Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals participating in this competition stand a chance to win attractive prizes. The first prize winner will receive Rs. 10,000, the second prize winner will be awarded Rs. 7,500, and the third prize winner will receive Rs. 6,500. In total, there are eight prizes, along with mementos and certifications for the winning Mandal. Additionally, the competition includes special categories for 'excellent idol' and 'cleanliness,' adding more opportunities for recognition.

Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar emphasised the importance of these competitions and their role in fostering creativity and community involvement during Ganeshotsav celebrations.

Competition details:

1. Application Form: Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals interested in participating can obtain the application form from the Information and Public Relations Department, Mahapalika Bhavan, First Floor, Pachpakhadi, Thane (West) between 11:00 am to 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

2. Application Deadline: The last date for receiving applications is September 18, 2023. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

3. Competition Rules: Mandals celebrating Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav till Anant Chaturdashi in the Thane Municipal area can participate. They must be registered with the Charity Commissioner (a copy to be attached with the application). Mandals are encouraged to incorporate eco-friendly elements in their decorations. Judging will consider both the artistry and the purpose of the scene, with preference given to performances by local artists. Scenes displaying intolerance towards any religion will not be considered. It's also mandatory to display information, boards, hoardings, and messages of public interest as published by the State Government, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Election Commission. The examiner will visit the Mandal for examination only once, and the entire scene must be ready at that time. The judge's decision will be final, and audio tapes related to the appearance should be played for only ten minutes. Written summaries of the appearance will also be accepted, along with mandatory video recordings on a pen drive for examiner reference.
