Encouraging taxpayers to make the most of Abhay Yojana, The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has extended the timeline and has also announced 100% interest waiver in property tax, until January 15, 2024. The municipal corporation has urged citizens in Thane to avail themselves of the Interest Waiver Abhay Yojana.

Initially launched from December 15 to December 31, the scheme received a positive response from citizens. However, considering requests from those unable to benefit due to Christmas holidays, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar took the decision to extend the Abhay Yojana.

Under this extended scheme, individuals clearing their property tax arrears along with the current year's demand by January 15, 2024, will receive complete relaxation in the penalty imposed under Rule 41(1) on their property tax arrears.

The Municipal Corporation has established collection centres at all ward offices, open on office working days from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, public holidays, Saturdays from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, and Sundays from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, facilitating property tax payments.

Additionally, the corporation provides online payment options through its website www.thanecity.gov.in and popular platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, PayTm, and BhimApp for the convenience of taxpayers. Encouraging citizens to benefit from this initiative, the corporation aims to assist taxpayers in their property tax obligations.
