In a significant effort to expedite the completion of the vital flyover connecting Diva's east-west sections near the Diva railway station, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar led an inspection, providing crucial directives to fast-track the project.
During the inspection conducted last Friday, Municipal Commissioner Bangar, accompanied by MLA Pramod Patil and former Deputy Mayor Ramakant Madhvi, along with key officials including City Engineer Prashant Sonagra, Deputy City Engineer Ramdas Shinde, Vikas Dhole, Executive Engineer Dhananjay Mode, and Deepak Mane, emphasized the need to expedite the land acquisition and connecting roads.
Commissioner Bangar emphasized that the construction of the flyover's wall can commence once the connecting roads and drainage systems are in place, setting a target for this phase to be completed within the next three months. Additionally, roadwork on both sides of the bridge, where land acquisition processes have been successfully concluded, should be finished by January 15. Quality standards should be rigorously maintained, with no compromises, even as work accelerates.
To minimize disruptions due to daytime traffic, the Commissioner stressed the importance of conducting most of the work during night time hours.
The flyover's route will extend over the municipal school campus and Gavdevi Temple in Diva (W). Commissioner Bangar conducted a thorough inspection of this route to ensure seamless integration.
Furthermore, parallel work with the railways for the flyover is already in progress, with the goal of completing the girder launching and deck slabs on the east side of the flyover by June 30.
In a bid to address pending land acquisition issues, Bangar announced plans for a meeting with local citizens and the Urban Development Department within the next 15 days.
In addition to monitoring progress on the flyover, Bangar also inspected unpaved roads in the Kalyan direction, running parallel to the railway at Diva East and West. Local residents raised concerns about work stoppages due to road sections within railway property. In response, Bangar assured that discussions with railway authorities would take place to resolve the matter.
Furthermore, infrastructure developments in Diva East, including asphalt work on certain roads and the commencement of a pipeline project from Shilphata to Diva, were addressed during the inspection. The commissioner also directed the electricity department to remove electric poles that obstruct certain roadways in the area.
