Thane Titans lead the way for cleanliness: Actor Bhau Kadam launches Indian Swachhta League Emblem

A resounding call for cleanliness echoed through as actor and Thane city captain, Bhau Kadam, unveiled the emblem of 'Thane Titans' as part of the Indian Sanitation League 2023 initiative. The ceremony took place at the Kashinath Ghanekar Theatre, with Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar gracing the event.
The Indian Swachhta League, conducted under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, sees participation from 3,085 cities across India, including 411 cities from Maharashtra. This league, observed from September 15th to October 2nd, marks a nationwide commitment to cleanliness.
Addressing the gathering, Bhau Kadam expressed his dedication to the cause, stating, "The cleanliness of your Thane city should be great, and your city should lead the ranks. For that, I myself will participate in the Indian Swachhta League." He passionately called upon the citizens of Thane to participate enthusiastically in this competition.
Thane, with its rich historical, cultural, and political significance, aspires to be known as a clean city during this Swachhta League. Commissioner Abhijit Bangar rallied support for this endeavour, emphasizing that the entire community should join hands to achieve this goal.
The Indian Swachhta League aims to identify litter-prone areas and eliminate littering, organize extensive clean-ups of beaches, hills, tourist spots, and major public places led by youth initiatives, promote youth involvement in cleanliness for waste-free cities, and encourage active participation from self-government bodies and citizens.
In line with these objectives, a significant event will be held on Sunday, September 17th, at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium. Commissioner Abhijit Bangar urged Thane citizens to actively participate in this competition, especially through the city's schools. Schools have been provided with registration links, and students and parents are encouraged to register and contribute to the city's cleanliness efforts. On September 17th, teachers are encouraged to engage students in innovative presentations and cleanliness-themed activities.
Adding a touch of excitement, Bhau Kadam, captain of the Thane Titans team, will personally visit the school that secures the first position in this competition.
During the event, Commissioner Abhijit Bangar addressed queries from principals and teachers of municipal and private schools, clarifying doubts and fostering collaboration. The program's introduction was conducted by Additional Commissioner (1) Sandeep Malvi, with the presence of Additional Commissioner (2) Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioner Tushar Pawar, and Umakant Gaikwad.
