Panvel: In a shocking incident on June 7, six youths brutally assaulted two men riding a motorcycle after the latter honked while driving on the road. The Panvel city police acted swiftly and nabbed all six. While four of the accused were arrested, two were released after being served notices as they were juveniles.

The complainant, Deepak Mohite (46), a resident of Sai Nagar, Panvel, was returning home around 7:30 pm along with his friend Randhir Kumar Singh (36) on a motorcycle. During their journey, they encountered six youths blocking the road with three scooters, engaged in casual conversation and showing no intention to move aside. Mohite honked to request them to clear the way.

Offended by the honking, the group stopped the motorcycle, hurled abuses, and violently attacked both Mohite and Singh. Both Mohite and Singh sustained injuries. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the assault.

The victims filed a complaint with the Panvel city police. The police traced the accused using the registration numbers of two of the vehicles.

The four arrested – Nawshad Nashir Patel (27), Sanal Salim Rasalakar (19), Arman Ali Shaikh (19), and Rehan Rasul Bagwan (18) – were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while the two juveniles were released after being served official notices.
