Taloja residents demand urgent action from CIDCO to address severe water scarcity crisis

top-news

Angered by prolonged water shortages, residents of Taloja phases 1 and 2 took to the streets on Sunday, April 21st, under the rallying cry "No Water No Vote." The persistent water crisis, spanning three months, has left residents disillusioned with CIDCO's handling of the situation. At a meeting organized by the Taloja Phase 1 and 2 CHS Federation, residents voiced their frustration over CIDCO's failure to adequately address the issue.

Despite appeals for water tankers, CIDCO's response has been lacking, forcing residents to rely on costly private alternatives. The financial strain is significant, with some societies spending tens of thousands of rupees daily on private tankers. This unsustainable situation underscores the urgent need for improved water supply management.

Representatives from nearly 100 societies have united to demand action from CIDCO. Plans are underway for a protest at CIDCO's Water Supply Office in Raigad Bhavan, Belapur, within the week. Prasad Dhaghepatil, President of the Taloja Phase 1 & 2 CHS Federation LTD, stressed the urgency of the situation and confirmed unanimous support for agitation among meeting attendees. Formal permission requests for the protest will be submitted, signaling residents' determination to ensure their concerns are addressed.
