Taloja Central Jail fortified with state-of-the-art CCTV system to enhance security

Navi Mumbai: In a significant step towards enhancing security and monitoring within Taloja Central Jail, a total of 451 CCTV cameras have been installed to prevent inmate clashes and misconduct. The inauguration of this advanced CCTV system took place on Monday, officiated by Amitabh Gupta, Additional Director General of Police and Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Maharashtra State. Also present were Yogesh Desai, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, South Division Byculla, Mumbai-8, Taloja Jail Superintendent Pramod Wagh, and other officials.

The installation, executed in two phases, initially deployed 331 CCTVs equipped with updated technology aimed at monitoring inmate activities and movements. The remaining cameras will be installed in the subsequent phase. These state-of-the-art cameras incorporate AI technology, enhancing their surveillance capabilities.

Addressing the gathering, Amitabh Gupta emphasized the importance of these CCTV cameras in preventing malpractice within prisons and ensuring effective monitoring of inmates. The system is expected to curb misconduct and improve overall security measures at Taloja Jail.

Additionally, Taloja Jail has introduced 15 new video conferencing systems to facilitate inmates' communication with their relatives, with ongoing installation efforts. Furthermore, a body scanner machine has been implemented to strengthen prison security, aiding in thorough inmate searches.
