Navi Mumbai: The newly constructed library in Sector 5, Airoli, built by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, remains unopened and is currently gathering dust due to a lack of public dedication. This situation has sparked criticism and calls for immediate action to ensure the library's opening.
The library, located in front of Chincholi Udyan, Sector 5, has faced neglect from municipal officials and the administration. Concerns have been raised about the library being in a state of disuse, with no efforts to dust off the books or purchase new ones. Critics argue that the library appears to be maintained only for the staff rather than serving the public's needs.
The Swarajya Party has condemned the delay in opening the library and called for its inauguration within the next seven days. They emphasize the importance of promoting a reading culture among all age groups and highlight the need for immediate action to address this issue.
At a press conference, Swarajya Party leaders including Airoli Taluka President Amol Nimbalkar, General Secretary Nitin Ghalege, Navi Mumbai City President Vinayak Jadhav, Vice President Pradeep Phanse, Secretary Prateek More, and Sairaj Dhavale voiced their concerns and warned of strong agitation if the library is not opened promptly.
In response to the situation, Ashok Ahire, Divisional Officer of Airoli Division, has announced that a letter will be sent to the Social Development Department to seek appropriate actions regarding the matter.
