Exhibition celebrates 150 Years of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST)

In a tribute to Mumbai's rich history of transportation, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST) is marking a significant milestone with the celebration of its 150th anniversary. Fondly known as BEST, the organization has been an integral part of the city's fabric since its inception on May 9, 1874.

 To commemorate this historic occasion, BEST is hosting a special event titled "BEST's Suvarna Mahotsavi Transportation 150 Sesquicentennial Anniversary." The festivities will take place from Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the BEST Museum located in the administrative building, Third floor, near the Mahanagar Gas Station, Anik Bus Depot, Mumbai - 400 022. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, offering visitors a glimpse into the tram era of BEST through a captivating display of miniature moving wonders.

Highlighting the evolution of transportation in Mumbai, the exhibition will showcase the history and legacy of BEST's tram system, which played a pivotal role in shaping the city's urban landscape. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore intricately crafted miniature models that depict the iconic trams that once traversed the streets of Mumbai, offering a nostalgic journey back in time.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 10:30 am, with the esteemed presence of Bilal Shaikh, Assistant General Manager of Electric Supply, and  Ramesh Madavi, Deputy Chief Manager of Traffic, Planning & Administration.

The event promises to be a momentous occasion, bringing together dignitaries, transportation enthusiasts, and members of the community to celebrate Mumbai's enduring legacy of public transport.

For attendees' convenience, several bus routes have been arranged to facilitate transportation to the venue. Bus Route No. 58, A-59, A-60 will operate from Kurla (East) Bus Station towards Anik Depot, while Bus Route No. 6 Ltd., A-59 will run from Khodadad Circle, Dadar (East), and Bus Route No. A-59 will operate from Veer Kotwal Udyan-Plaza Theatre, Dadar (West).
