Spreads awareness on social welfare and environmental conservation

Navi Mumbai: Established in 1994, Shivtej Mitra Mandal Sanpada, also known as "Navi Mumbaicha Kaiwari", is celebrating 31 years of promoting social welfare and cultural activities during Ganeshotsav. As the first Ganeshotsav Mandal in the Sanpada division, Shivtej Mitra Mandal has consistently led various social initiatives over the years.

The mandal is renowned for its dedication to community service, including organizing events such as honouring senior citizens, tree planting, blood donation drives, health camps, and cultural programs for women. This year, the Ganesh idol is towering 15 feet tall, continuing the tradition of grandeur and devotion.

In addition to their cultural and social activities, Shivtej Mitra Mandal emphasizes environmental conservation. Devotees and chief guests are welcomed with a sapling symbolizing the importance of protecting the environment. Social activist Nilesh Kachare has furthered this message by distributing "Tree plant and Beej Modak (Seed Modak)" to promote environmental awareness among visitors.

The mandal's efforts have not gone unnoticed, with accolades including the third prize for "Ganpati Majha Utsavatla Raja" in 2018 at the Maharashtra-level competition, and numerous nominations in the NMMC Mayor Shree Ganesh Darshan Competition and the Ganesh Utsav Murti reader's choice awards organized by Loksatta.

Founded by Anil Shilkar, Shivtej Mitra Mandal has been instrumental in uniting the local community and establishing a legacy of social responsibility and cultural celebration. Current office bearers include President Sagar Gadge, Vice President Mangesh Kadam, Secretary  Vishal Kadam, Treasurer Nilesh Kachare and joint-treasurer Pratik Bhosale, who continue to uphold the mandal's values and traditions.

As the festival continues, Shivtej Mitra Mandal remains committed to its dual mission of celebrating Ganeshotsav with grandeur while fostering social welfare and environmental conservation.
