Panvel: The Shiv Sena has warned of a road blockade if potholes on four roads in Panvel taluka are not repaired and overgrown roadside vegetation cleared within seven days.
In a letter to the Public Works Department (PWD), Shiv Sena Panvel Taluka Deputy Chief Vishwas Patil, taluka organiser Dinesh Mandavkar and Nere division chief Vidyadhar Chorghe demanded urgent repairs on the Panvel-Matheran Road, Nere-Dhodani-Maldunge Road, Chiple-Morbe Road and Wakdi-Dundare Road.
The leaders said large potholes were causing inconvenience to motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders, who are forced to manoeuvre dangerously to avoid them. They also flagged thick grass and bushes along the stretch from Nere to Wakdi-Dundare, which obstruct visibility and prevent motorists from spotting oncoming vehicles.
According to the leaders, the poor road conditions and restricted visibility have contributed to frequent minor and major accidents. They urged the PWD to fill the potholes and clear the roadside vegetation within seven days, warning that the party would resort to a road blockade if the demands were not met.
