Raigad-Alibaug: To enhance tourist safety along Raigad district’s coastline, the state government’s Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department has provided remote-operated life buoys to local civic bodies and village panchayats.

The rescue equipment was distributed by Raigad Guardian Minister Bharat Sheth Gogawale at the district collector’s office in the presence of Collector Kishan Jawale, Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Neha Bhosale and District Disaster Management Officer Sagar Pathak, among other officials.

The remote-controlled devices are designed to reach people struggling in the sea, enabling lifeguards to provide assistance more quickly while reducing risks to rescuers.

The equipment has been distributed to the Alibaug, Murud and Shrivardhan municipal councils, and the Nagaon, Kashid, Harihareshwar and Diveagar gram panchayats. Kashid has received two units.

Following the distribution, a demonstration and training session was conducted for lifeguards at Alibaug beach. Participants were trained in operating the equipment, reaching people in distress and using the devices effectively during rescue operations.

The initiative aims to strengthen coastal rescue infrastructure through modern safety equipment, trained lifeguards and improved emergency response mechanisms, particularly at beaches frequented by tourists.
