Police reviews safety measures by schools to prevent sexual harassment

Vashi: Police organised a review meeting of principals and school administrators to educate them about the measures and legal provisions to ensure the safety of students studying in schools and colleges.
Pankaj Dahane, DCP Zone-1, reviewed the measures being taken by schools and colleges for the safety of students. He also gave detailed guidance on how to prevent incidents of sexual assault and ensure the safety of students.
The Maharashtra government has issued a circular regarding the measures to be taken by school and college administrators for the safety of students studying in schools and to save them from sexual harassment.
Dahane convened the meeting to ensure its compliance by the schools and administrators within the 10 police stations in Zone 1 on April 28.
In this review meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane gave clear instructions to effectively implement the measures advised by the Maharashtra government for the safety of students. He also gave instructions to conduct a third-party audit of schools, colleges and educational institutions for the safety of students and report them to the local police station.
He also instructed that the school committees to coordinate with local police stations to implement the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government.
Principals, head teachers and managers of 149 schools, colleges, and educational institutions in Zone 1 of Navi Mumbai attended the meeting.
