Police Arrest Man with Cannabis Worth Rs. 3.03 Lakh in Virar

Virar: In a major breakthrough against illegal narcotics, the Crime Branch Unit 3 of MBVV Police successfully apprehended a man with 10.1 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs. 3,03,000. The operation was conducted based on a tip-off received by the police.

"Upon receiving credible information about a person arriving in Virar East to sell cannabis, we immediately planned a strategic operation. Our team set up a trap with two panch witnesses," said Shahuraj Ranvare, Police Inspector, Crime Branch Unit 3.

The operation unfolded at Katkari Pada, Virar East, where the suspect, identified as Akash Ajit Jadhav, aged 30 arrived on a white scooter at around 9:08 PM on Wednesday. He was immediately intercepted by the police team.

"Following standard procedure, we conducted a search of his bag and found cannabis weighing 10.1 kilograms, valued at ₹3,03,000. The suspect was taken into custody in the presence of the panch witnesses, and the narcotic substance was seized," Inspector Ranvare confirmed.

The accused, Akash Jadhav, has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with a case registered at Virar Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B).

Further investigations are underway to uncover any possible links to a larger drug network.
