The Tax Collection and Taxation Department of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an intensified campaign aimed at recovering property taxes from defaulters. In a bid to expedite the process, the municipal corporation has boosted its recovery teams and issued an earnest appeal to residential, industrial, and commercial property owners facing seizure notices to settle their outstanding property tax dues.
With 374 forfeiture notices dispatched to delinquent property taxpayers across all four wards of Panvel, the recovery drive has witnessed a significant uptick in recent days. The concerted efforts have resulted in a notable increase of Rs. 2 crores in tax collection within just the past two days. So far, a total of Rs. 274 crore property tax has been collected in the ongoing financial year, with a cumulative deposit of Rs. 561 crore property tax into the municipality's treasury.
Despite the lack of a stay from the Honourable High Court regarding the collection of property tax within the jurisdiction of Panvel Municipal Corporation, the corporation is actively seeking cooperation from property owners to fulfill their tax obligations.
In today's operations, the recovery teams successfully recovered outstanding taxes amounting to 4 lakhs from defaulters in Kamothe. House visits were also conducted in various areas including Kalamboli Marble Market, Kamothe Jawahar Industrial Estate, Rohingya, Khanda Kalani, and Kharghar, where property owners were urged to promptly settle their dues. Failure to comply may result in detention actions being taken against defaulters.
To facilitate easier payment processes, the Municipal Corporation has introduced the 'PMC TAX APP', a mobile application for convenient online property tax payments. Additionally, property owners can make payments via the official website, panvelmc.org. The Corporation has also prepared a comprehensive 'Citizen Property Tax Payment Guide' to assist property owners in making online payments without the need to visit municipal offices.
Property owners are encouraged to utilize these digital platforms for hassle-free tax payments and can seek assistance or clarification by contacting the toll-free number 1800-5320-340.
