Panvel News: 3.5K plastic goods seized, Rs 25,000 recovered

Panvel: Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) seized 3,500 kg of plastic bags and collected a fine of Rs 25,000 as part of its efforts to effectively impose the ban on plastic.
About 300 kg of plastic was seized in Ward C, Kamothe. The seized goods include stack of plastic spoons, glasses, bowls, and plates. A fine of Rs ten thousand was collected.
Raid at a godown storing plastic in Nawade sub-division led to the recovery of around 1,850 kg of plastic. Similarly, 250 kg of plastic was seized during the anti-plastic drive in Kharghar Ward Committee A. A fine of Rs 5,000 was collected.
About 450 kg of plastic was seized during the anti-plastic drive in Kalamboli Ward Committee B and a total fine of Rs 5,000 was collected.
During the anti-plastic campaign in Panvel Ward Committee D, 650 kg of plastic was seized and a total fine of Rs. 5,000 was collected.
The PMC has exhorted the public to use paper or cloth bags instead of plastic bags so as to help the municipal corporation in making Panvel plastic-free.
