Panvel: Panvel Cha Raja ‘Chintamani,’ one of the most popular Ganeshotsav celebrations in the Panvel Municipal area, has entered its 15th year with grandeur and devotion. Organized by Hari Om Samajik Mitra Mandal, the festival is being celebrated inside a magnificent 30-foot eco-friendly pandal. This year’s theme is dedicated to Swami Samartha, with replicas and cutouts displayed across the pandal to spread his teachings and messages of peace and harmony.
“Our sincere effort this year is to promote unity in society by sharing the life lessons of Shree Swami Samartha and encouraging people to follow his path,” said Mandal president Mayur Shelke.
The highlight of the celebration is the majestic 26-foot idol of Chintamani, designed in the form of Vishnu’s avatar. The idol’s feet and right palm are adorned with gold plating, drawing 6,000–7,000 devotees daily to Chintamani Darbar at Sector 4, New Panvel. Daily aartis at 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. witness enthusiastic participation from devotees.
Continuing its tradition of social responsibility, the mandal is offering free medical services to residents. A comprehensive health check-up camp, along with eye examinations and pathological tests like cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood tests, was conducted earlier. On Monday, Dr. Alpana Gupta led a free Gynaecology camp, while a dermatology and skin care camp by Dr. Dipali Shenderkar is also scheduled.
Beyond healthcare, the mandal has lined up cultural and social activities. A felicitation program for senior citizens and students will be held on September 3. Women eagerly await the traditional Haldi-Kumkum gathering on September 4. On September 5, the Satyanarayana Mahapuja and Maha Prasad distribution will take place, with children from orphanages specially invited to partake in the feast. Additionally, the mandal will conduct a tree plantation drive to promote environmental awareness, reinforcing its commitment to both devotion and social responsibility, shared Vice President Aswin Dicholka.
