More than 46,000 dancers assembled at M M Patel Farm in Gujarat for a large-scale Garba performance that culminated in a Guinness World Records achievement. Organised by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and United Way of Baroda, the event, titled Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba, brought together 46,128 participants. Renowned Gujarati folk singer Atul Purohit provided the musical accompaniment as dancers performed traditional steps in coordinated circles. Nearly 3,000 students also formed four symbolic circles representing the city’s heritage, cleanliness, women’s empowerment and aspirations for India’s future. The celebration highlighted Garba’s cultural significance, particularly during Navratri, when the traditional dance honours the divine feminine energy. UNESCO recognised Garba of Gujarat as part of humanity’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2023.
