An alarming trend is being witnessed across railway stations on the Harbour Line in Navi Mumbai, where the main indicators are being removed from the station premises, leaving passengers confused.
Following the instances at Vashi and Sanpada railway stations, commuters have now noticed the absence of indicators at the ticket counter in Kharghar station.
In addition to the absence of visible indicators at the ticket counter, commuters have also complained about the insufficient lighting in the subway towards the CST end, necessitating more illumination.
Saloni Mohite, a resident of Sector 7 in Kharghar, said, “It is a careless move to remove the indicators from the ticket counter, as it was a convenient point for passengers to anticipate their train's arrival time. Now, we have to rely on the M Indicator and the Yatri App. Furthermore, if the Central Railways have removed indicators for maintenance purposes, they should inform passengers about when the indicators will be reinstated to their original positions.”
Jatin Korde, a resident of Belpada in Kharghar, added, “I have noticed that the subway on the CST end of the platform remains dim even during the daytime and is inadequately lit. I urge the station master to address this issue promptly to ensure proper lighting, preventing incidents such as chain-snatching or purse robberies.”
