In a move to enhance commuter comfort and connectivity, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has announced the commencement of Volvo air-conditioned bus services between Panvel Railway Station and Kalyan Railway Station, with a route covering Taloja-MIDC. These services will operate every half an hour in both directions, offering a convenient and luxurious travel option for passengers.

The buses are equipped to provide a comfortable journey, and the one-way fare for this service is set at Rs. 60/-. In comparison, the non-ac bus fare for a journey from Panvel to Kalyan is Rs. 45/-. “The ordinary bus services will continue alongside the new Volvo services”, informed an official from the transport wing.

The schedule for these Volvo buses is designed to cater to a wide range of commuters, with the first bus departing from Panvel Railway Station at 5:30 AM and the last one leaving at 9:10 PM, ensuring extended operational hours. Conversely, the first bus from Kalyan Railway Station to Panvel Railway Station will commence its journey at 7:00 AM, with the last bus departing at 10:55 PM.

Panvel Pravasi Sangh, the organization representing commuters, expressed optimism that passengers would benefit from this economical Volvo bus service. Dr. Bhakti Kumar Dave, President of Panvel Pravasi Sangh, along with Vice-President Yashwantrao Thackeray, Secretary Shrikant Bapat, and members Nilesh Joshi and Gautam Agarwal, met with Umakant Jangle, Superintendent of Transport at NMMT, to discuss the initiative.

During the meeting, the office bearers requested a survey and feasibility report for extending the bus service via Karanjade-Belapur, including a route passing through Navi Mumbai Airport. They believe that such an expansion would further enhance connectivity and convenience for commuters in the region.
