Dismantles 15 illegal billboards overnight
In a swift and decisive move against unauthorized hoardings, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's (NMMC) Encroachment Department conducted an intensive operation, dismantling 15 illegal billboards overnight.
The crackdown follows recent natural calamities and safety concerns sparked by a hoarding collapse incident in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Acting promptly, NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde convened an emergency meeting via television on May 14, reiterating directives issued on April 30 to conduct structural audits of billboards and initiate the removal of unauthorized hoardings in Navi Mumbai.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe, the Encroachment Department launched swift action against violators. Commencing at 5 PM on May 15 and continuing until 5 AM the following day, the department meticulously executed the operation, targeting illegal hoardings across various locations.
The crackdown spanned areas adjacent to Belapur station, Shiravane plot no. 3 in Sector 1, Vashigaon, Sanpada Station in Turbhe Division, Gawlideo Sthala in Ghansoli Division, Sector 3 Bus Depot in Airoli Division, and Digha. Additionally, focus was directed towards the Thane Belapur Road section in Koparkhairane.
Dr. Rahul Gethe affirmed the department's unwavering commitment to continue the crackdown on unauthorized hoardings, emphasizing the paramount importance of adhering to safety standards and municipal regulations.
