As the financial year comes to a close, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is making a fervent appeal to citizens to fulfill their property tax obligations before the looming deadline of March 31.

Property tax stands as a crucial revenue stream for the NMMC, funding various civic amenities and developmental projects. In a bid to streamline tax recovery efforts, the corporation rolled out the 'Malmattakar Abhay Yojana' on February 29, 2024. Under this initiative, taxpayers can avail a 50% discount on the penalty portion of their dues by settling at least 50% of their overdue property tax along with the penalty between March 21 and March 31, 2024.

The corporation emphasizes the importance of citizens leveraging this opportunity to substantially reduce penalty charges on outstanding property taxes. Moreover, residents are urged to contribute to the city's development by ensuring timely payment of their current property tax liabilities before the impending deadline.

To facilitate convenient tax payments, civic facilities centres and property tax payment outlets across all eight divisional offices of the NMMC will remain operational during office hours, including holidays, until March 31.

In a special plea directed towards individuals with outstanding property tax arrears, the NMMC extends the offer of a 50% penalty waiver under the Abhay Yojana, encouraging them to clear their dues promptly. The corporation underscores the significance of both clearing arrears and settling current-year property taxes by March 31 to foster the city's progress and well-being.
