Navi Mumbai: In a bid to ensure clean drinking water is supplied to residents, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will conduct a special water quality testing campaign on Sunday, August 4, 2024. This initiative, overseen by Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, aims to enhance water safety amid the rainy season.

The campaign will significantly boost the daily water testing routine, increasing the number of samples tested from 110 to 1,000. These samples will be collected from various areas across the NMMC jurisdiction. Currently, the NMMC supplies an average of 460 D.L. of water, and to maintain its quality, daily water samples are collected and tested in an approved laboratory.

The special campaign, part of the 'Safai Apnao - Bimari Bhagao' initiative under 'Swachh Survekshan 2024,' will test various water quality parameters including pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), residual chlorine, and e-coli. Testing will be carried out in the NMMC's laboratory as well as the government laboratory at Kokan Bhawan.

Testing will be conducted across all eight divisions of the NMMC area, with 120 samples tested from each division and an additional 100 samples from the main water channel.

The routine testing of 110 water samples per day will continue alongside this special campaign. The water quality testing will cover samples from slum areas, rural areas, commercial zones, educational institutions, and households.
