NMMC chief pushes for speedy implementation of e-office system

Navi Mumbai: Dr. Kailas Shinde, Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), has set ambitious targets for the implementation of the e-office system, aiming for a rollout by August. In a recent review meeting focused on digital transformation, Dr. Shinde emphasized the need for swift action to digitize all operations across 82 municipal departments.
Present at the meeting were Additional Commissioner Mr. Sunil Pawar, Additional Commissioner and City Engineer Mr. Shirish Aardwad, Deputy Commissioner of Administration Department Mr. Sharad Pawar, and heads of relevant departments.
Dr. Shinde directed the immediate collection of e-data from employees within 7 days and mandated the provision of government e-mail IDs for seamless integration with the e-office system. He instructed the establishment of a dedicated computer room in the engineering department equipped with high-capacity scanning facilities to support the digital transition.
Highlighting the benefits of the e-office system, Dr. Shinde emphasized enhanced speed, transparency, and efficiency in municipal operations. He stressed that the system would streamline processes, ensuring timely delivery of quality services to citizens.
Furthermore, Dr. Shinde reviewed plans to expand online public services, urging that all municipal permissions and certificates be made available digitally. He underscored the importance of reducing citizens' need to visit municipal offices, thereby saving time and effort.
In addition, Dr. Shinde instructed the swift activation of a payment gateway for property tax payments and emphasized future tax assessments based on Lidar survey data for accuracy.
The e-office system is expected to eliminate paperwork, reduce file handling delays, and enhance accountability by tracking file statuses online. Dr. Shinde confirmed his commitment to a citizen-centric administration, pledging to expedite the e-office implementation to modernize and streamline municipal operations.
