NMMC begins construction of new bridge to alleviate traffic jam in Khairane-Bonkode area

In a bid to tackle the persistent traffic congestion plaguing the Khairane-Bonkode area, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has taken a step by commencing the construction of a new bridge over Kopri Nala along the railway track. This strategic move is expected to bring much-needed relief to the daily commuters navigating this bustling part of Navi Mumbai.

The surge in the number of vehicles, propelled by rapid urbanization in the Koparkhairane locality, has led to a growing challenge of traffic congestion. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Municipal Corporation had previously constructed a bridge in 1999-2000 to connect Palm Beach Road to Kopri Nalla. However, with the continuous influx of vehicles traveling between Vashi and Thane, a bottleneck has persisted, resulting in a daily traffic jam.

To address this ongoing issue, NMMC has decided to embark on the construction of an additional bridge over Kopri Nala, running along the railway line from Khairane village to Kopri Lake. Once completed, this bridge is expected to streamline traffic flow, providing a direct route from Khairane to the APMC market after passing through the newly constructed bridge.

Municipal engineers have confirmed that the construction work is underway and aims for completion before the onset of the upcoming monsoon season.
