In a significant move to strengthen the foundation of Mumbai cricket, the newly elected President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), Ajinkya Naik addressed all Mumbai teams in a meeting that marked a pivotal step towards fostering unity and progress within the cricketing fraternity.

The meeting was well-attended by key stakeholders, including members of the Cricket Improvement Committee, Advisors, Selectors, and Support staff. This session highlighted the collective commitment of the MCA to enhance the quality and performance of Mumbai Cricket, which over the decades have dominated the domestic seasons across all age groups including at the Senior level where its Men’s team have won the prestigious Ranji Trophy for a record 42 second time, including the previous edition at Wankhede Stadium against Vidarbha.

During the session, the 37-year old President Ajinkya, the youngest in the history of MCA as part of his pre-election promise to replicate the commitment and dedication to improving the quality of Mumbai cricket and take his legacy forward of previous President (Late) Amol Kale, engaged in open and constructive dialogue with the players. Understanding the importance of addressing the challenges faced by the players, the President took the opportunity to listen to their concerns and assured them of the association's dedication to resolving these issues promptly.

The players and support staff were encouraged to speak freely, and they took this opportunity to express their thoughts and concerns. The candid discussions allowed the support staff and players to voice their experiences and insights, paving the way for effective solutions and further improvements in Mumbai cricket.

“The MCA remains committed to the growth and development of cricket in Mumbai, ensuring that both players and support staff have the support they need to excel,” said Ajinkya Naik, President of MCA, who has been supportive of the maidens and clubs cricket during his association with MCA right from the days of him being a MCA Managing Committee member before being becoming its Secretary.

*Following the untimely death of MCA President Amol Kale early in the USA during the course of the closely contested India - Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup league Match, a new election was necessitated to fill the leadership post. In a one-on-one contest between two incumbent office- bearers of the Association, Ajinkya Naik (221 votes) prevailed over Sanjay Naik (114) by 107 votes to take over the reins of the association, last month.
